Coming events for May/June

The DC 37 Asian Heritage Committee will hold its annual celebration at the union on May 18 at 6 p.m. Admission is free and all union members are invited to enjoy entertainment and food from various Asian cultures. For more information, please call Committee Chair Maf Misbah Uddin, who is also the treasurer of DC 37 and the president of Local 1407, at 212-815-1684.

The DC 37 Education Committee fundraiser, “Evening of Jazz,” will be held on Thursday, June 7, from 6 to 10 p.m. at the elegant Sequoia Restaurant located at the historic South Street Seaport, Pier 17. June is Gay Pride Month and in celebration, the Lesbian and Gay Issues Committee is having a Gay Pride Opening Ceremony June 8. It will take place at 6 p.m., in the gallery area on the first floor at DC 37. Call LAGIC Chair Judith Arroyo at 212-815-1436 for more information.

On Friday, June 22, the DC 37 Caribbean Heritage Committee will host its 3rd Annual Formal Gala from 7 to 10 p.m. at Grand Prospect Hall in Brooklyn. Tickets cost $80 each. For more information or to purchase tickets, please call 212-815-1420 or 212-815-1502.

The DC 37 Jewish Heritage Committee will hold its annual celebration at 5:30 p.m. June 28. The event will begin with a kosher meal and will include musical and other entertainment and a speaker on a subject of concern to the community.
