At the heart of every strong union, is organizing
- Why You Should Join DC 37
- MAT – Member Action Teams
- VMO – Volunteer Member Organizer
- QWL – Quality of Work Life Committees
Internal Organizing
Engaging, educating, and empowering members in contract fights and other forms of collective action aimed at strengthening our union.
We must continue to organize our DC 37 members.
- Every member should be an organizer and promoter of DC 37.
- Member Action Team (MAT)
- Volunteer Member Organizer (VMO) program
- Quality of Work Life (QWL)
External Organizing
We organize workers who do not have collective bargaining rights, and develop and carry out programs to organize the unorganized into DC 37.
We must organize unrepresented workers.
- Add members to our union from non-union employers.
- Identify new areas of non-represented workers.
- Research nonprofit areas within DC 37’s jurisdiction.
- Private organizations.
Our one-on-one meetings build a base
Relationship building is at the core of organizing – and happens in different ways at different times. Organizing gives us a rare, exciting opportunity to develop strong, public relationships with many interesting and hopeful people who care about the same things we care about.
Meeting with people individually – not just in group settings – enables us to build a base of people who:
- Know each other;
- Are accountable to one another;
- And are committed to build our collective power!
