Anthony Wells
President, SSEU Local 371

Wells, a graduate of Baruch College, Stony Brook University and New York Law School, was elected president of Local 371 in 2011. His background includes negotiating, organizing, research and pensions. He chairs the DC 37 Civil Service Committee, and he is a co-chair of the Municipal Labor Committee.
Wells began his civil service career in 1980 as a Caseworker at the Spofford Juvenile Center in the Bronx. In 1983, he transferred to the Bureau of Child Welfare. In 1988, he started working as an organizer for Local 371.
