Internet As A Research Tool: Navigating the Internet
This class is intended for students to learn about browsing for information on the Internet, with an introduction to the cloud. It will also equip them with effective methods to enhance remote work. There will be remote access to the CWE computer lab. Students will gain skills to navigate the Internet for research, finding resources and sorting through digital materials. As they get familiar with browser settings such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, MS Edge they will practice downloading webpages to personal computers. They will learn to download media files such as videos, audio & images files; create Adobe digital signatures; and save documents as PDF files. Students will be introduced to cloud productivity options like basic online word processing and best security practices; and options for saving files on the cloud or on the local computer.
Upon completion students will:
- Learn to use various search engines
- Learn how to search for information from various approaches
- Distinguish credible online sources
- Practice academic databases

To facilitate online computer classes, these are following requirements:
Students must have access to:
- Broadband internet
- A computer operating on Windows 10 or Mac OS (Sierra or later)
- Student must have a working email address
- A microphone
- Working computer camera
