Local 768 emphasizes organizing
Fitz Reid, president of Health Services Employees Local 768, was reelected to head the local.
The election results were announced on Nov. 29. Anthony Scruggs was also reelected as the local’s executive vice-president and Michele Wilson was reelected as first vice-president.
President Reid is also a DC 37 vice president. “We will continue to emphasize grass-roots organizing and building union power at the workplace,” said Reid.
Nathan Franco, Linda Ruiz and Shirley Williams were elected to the executive board. Alex Leung won his election for second vice president and Andre Johannes was elected treasurer.
Local 768 represents members in more than a dozen titles who work at the Dept. of Sanitation, the Dept. of Juvenile Justice, the Dept. of Environmental Protection and other agencies.
