DC 37 in solidarity with Puerto Rico

The DC 37 Climate Justice Committee presented an evening in solidarity with Puerto Rico. The evening featured a presentation and panel discussion on the fight against the privatization of public services and the struggle for a more sustainable future.

Speakers included Judy Sheridan Gonzalez, president of the New York State Nurses Association, Eduardo Rosario, president of the New York chapter of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement and Lilah Mejia, from the New York Disaster Interfaith Services.

Eddie Rodriguez, president of DC 37 and Local 1549 acknowledged the solidarity shown by a dozen DC 37 members who went to Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria struck to provide humanitarian assistance.

“I can’t tell you how proud I am of our members who didn’t hesitate to answer the call to help their brothers and sisters after that terrible hurricane,” said Rodriguez at the March 29 meeting.
